Organic Phosphorus Substantially Contributes to Crop Plant Nutrition in Soils with Low Phosphorus Availability

چکیده

To evaluate phosphorus (P) availability and the role of microorganisms in P dynamics barley rhizosphere, we constructed a rhizobox using two arable Andosols under different fertilization management regimens cultivated (Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Minorimugi) for 5 weeks. The phosphatase-labile pool organic (Po) was assessed phosphatase-addition approach combination with chemical extraction Po from soils. A considerable amount inorganic (Pi) NaHCO3 fraction taken up by roots soil high Pi availability, whereas Po, primarily phytate-like fraction, hydrolyzed then low availability. No significant utilization either NaOH-Pi or NaOH-Po observed both soils during 5-week cultivation. In elevated acid phosphomonoesterase phosphodiesterase activities, greater substrates bacteria Biolog ECO plate, were rhizosphere when compared those bulk soil. This suggested enhanced hydrolysis increased phosphatase activities to meet demand, making an important source

Plant adaptations to severely phosphorus-impoverished soils.

Mycorrhizas play a pivotal role in phosphorus (P) acquisition of plant roots, by enhancing the soil volume that can be explored. Non-mycorrhizal plant species typically occur either in relatively fertile soil or on soil with a very low P availability, where there is insufficient P in the soil solution for mycorrhizal hyphae to be effective. Soils with a very low P availability are either old an...

Rhizosphere Organic Anions Play a Minor Role in Improving Crop Species' Ability to Take Up Residual Phosphorus (P) in Agricultural Soils Low in P Availability

Many arable lands have accumulated large reserves of residual phosphorus (P) and a relatively large proportion of soil P is less available for uptake by plants. Root released organic anions are widely documented as a key physiological strategy to enhance P availability, while limited information has been generated on the contribution of rhizosphere organic anions to P utilization by crops grown...

PHOSPHORUS MANAGEMENT Ligands and Phytase Hydrolysis of Organic Phosphorus in Soils Amended with Dairy Manure

tion of IP6 and other IPs in dairy manure are attributed to the protective effect of IP6 complexation with polyvaInformation about orthophosphate and organic phosphorus (P) lent cations that reduces dephosphorylation. As a result, desorption in soil amended with animal manure is needed because a build-up of P following repeated manure applications poses risks of substantial amounts of dietary I...

Theoretical evidence for the functional benefit of root cortical aerenchyma in soils with low phosphorus availability.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The formation of root cortical aerenchyma (RCA) reduces root respiration and nutrient content by converting living tissue to air volume. It was hypothesized that RCA increases soil resource acquisition by reducing the metabolic and phosphorus cost of soil exploration. METHODS To test the quantitative logic of the hypothesis, SimRoot, a functional-structural plant model wit...
